Chamber Players is a holiday music course which runs twice a year. It has been set up by Lucy Melvin, a violinist and teacher in South London, and is based around her experiences of holiday music courses which inspired her ambition, and enhanced her enjoyment of playing the violin at a young age.

Playing in ensembles helps develop a side to music making that pupils might not find in having violin lessons on their own. When playing with other people, we learn more about essential skills such as rhythm and harmony and also sight reading. These skills are each so important to grasp, and develop, and playing in ensembles really does help the learning of these things. It is also a very sociable way to play music. It is great to realise how much fun can be had from learning an instrument.

The courses are 5 day, non-residential course for juniors and seniors. The juniors are coached in the mornings, and the seniors in the afternoons. Throughout the week there will be a series of inspiring concerts for the pupils to attend. These will start with the Opening Night Concert (which always offers something exciting, and a little bit different), and continue with lunchtime chamber music concerts in the middle of the week. There will be a final concert for all families to attend with a performance from the tutors and all the pupils. All tutors are highly respected chamber musicians and teachers.

The course is open to  string players of any ability, and pianists grade 7 and above.
